Today I saw a lonely child Asleep there upon the ground,
And I Weep

Today I saw a lonely child
Asleep there upon the ground,
Mama and Papa were nowhere
Nowhere to be found,
And when I see a lonely child
With not a morsel to eat,
Dirty face, unwashed hair,
No shoes upon his feet,
It makes me sad,
It makes me mad,
And I begin to weep.

When I see a lonely child
With nowhere to go,
No Mama to hold him at night,
Though his little heart is breaking,
He tries not to let it show.
When a child cries out in pain,
And there’s no one to hear,
He cries out in vain,
And it makes me sad,
Then it makes me mad,
And I begin to weep.
