WDC soundtrackers day 5
Okay, I'm not going to pretend I know anything about Edith Piaf. All I know is that she was a popular French singer. But, one of her songs is La Vie En Rose. That means looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. Awhile back, I was watching the original Sabrina with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, and La Vie En Rose is woven throughout the movie. After that, I just had to look it up. The music just wrapped itself around me and wouldn't let go. I listened to it for about a week, and it's stuck in my memory forever now.

The original song is in French, and the English version is SO not a translation. But the words to the English version capture the beauty and sentiment of the original, and that's fine with me.

Toby Bennett recorded this song with one of my favorite living singers, k.d. Lang. I love her voice, and the fact that she appears on stage barefoot. Here are the lyrics.

Hold me close and hold me fast
This magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

When you kiss me, heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose

When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom

And when you speak, angels, sing from above
Everyday words seem
To turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

Repeat*
