Something I wrote back in middle school while going through a particularly tough time
She walks around with a fake smile plastered to her face
Surrounded by people who have not the slightest interest in her presence
She silently watches the world go by, noticing everyone and everything
Countless minutes pass as she constantly feels hurt, lonely and confused
Longing for her destined escape from the suffocating clutches of despair
Urgently struggling to ignore the brutal words and cynical stares
Just barely suffering through another torturous day
Tangled dreams and unspoken thoughts remain bottled up inside her head
Classified information, not important enough to be said aloud
She is mystified by the simplest things
Living in an imaginary world
Craving a life much unlike the one she unwillingly survives
A dreamer
A unique soul
Yet she cannot see this
She is blinded by the horrid thoughts forced into her mind
Hiding behind the girl everyone else wants her to be
She looks in the mirror and says quietly
“Who am I?”
But the mirror has no answer
