Facing ... future

FEATURED in the WDC Newsletter: Poetry: Dorothy Parker by Stormy Lady , Editor's Picks, November 13, 2014

I didn't have this face of today,
So calm, so sad, this thin,
Neither did I have these eyes so empty,
Nor these lips, so bittersweet.

I didn't have these hands --- strengthless,
So still, so cold, so lifeless;
I didn't have this heart I have,
That sometimes doesn't show itself.

I didn't notice these changes - especially one
So simple, so certain, so easy:
--- In which mirror did I
Lose my face?
