An entry for the sentence contest
He saw it blowing in the breeze. The red scarf she'd worn almost everyday. It gave her eyes a spark. He blinked. It no longer there. He squeezed his eyes shut holding back his tears. She had been his best friend, his everything. She died. Seeing her in that hospital bed paralyzed him. He shuts off his mind, trying to forget trying about the pain inside. But everyday he sees her red scarf triggering the memories again. Her smiling and laughing. Until the end.
He tries to be happy. Remembering only the good. Her laughter filling his ears once more.
