a poem that talks about young children.
Sounds of Youth

The back door slams.
They're home from school.
The front door bell rings.
They spring to answer.

Next comes the football
out of the closet.
The front door slams and
you hear them laughing.

Slam goes the door again
and out comes the soda.
They are thirsty boys.
Shut the refrigerator door!

The telephone rings,
and it's for Tom.
Dad says come home and
do your homework.

There they go.
Tomorrow will be here soon,
you boys will come back over.
And laughter will ring again.
