Is it ever safe to put all your eggs in one nest?
Eyrie

Finding angels in the shadows
Demons in the light
Silhouettes in meadows
Scarecrows in the night
An open rural dreamscape
Where all my pretties play
A journal, mural dawn drapes
A tapestry per day
To combat urban nightmares
Where all my shadows dance
Indistinct in sun flare
Through latticed fingers glanced
Glimpsed and stored for later
Hoarded with the rest
The parts make something greater
This fucked up magpie’s nest
Constructed from the remnants
Pieces that don’t fit
A mosaic form sufficient
A structure tightly knit
Woven to be tested
To stress the rules of play
Still cuckoos swoop in crested
Their offspring join the fray
Till I can’t decipher fragments
Bits of them from me
The parts that are now absent
Discarded in the sea
A sea of broken notions
A meadow pastured green
Lost in sky blue oceans
With memories unseen
Shrouded with the angels
In shadows where they hide
Demons with their annals
Where dark truths left, reside
Whilst scarecrows hold inequities
Gainst ravens’ taunting songs
Abandoned opportunities
Imagined all along
