A poem I wrote for school with a subtext about Gay Rights. Inspired by music and t.v ships
My Mighty Ship

I once had a mighty ship,
Which always refused to sail,
I just aimlessly watched as it sat,
Through, rain wind, snow and hail.

Many people boarded my mighty ship,
Just to take a look around,
To explore my world upon the sea,
Things they didn't understand, they found.

A detective and assistant once boarded,
One claimed to be looking for clues,
They found nothing on board my mighty ship,
Except something that vanished their blues.

A mysterious pair once entered,
One claimed to be sent from the lord,
They too found nothing on my mighty ship,
Except true happiness on board.

A giant and his friend once boarded,
One claimed to be quite the trickster,
They found nothing on my mighty ship,
Except their favourite thing as a mixture.

A group of five once boarded,
One claimed to be in love,
They also found nothing on my mighty ship,
Except their destiny given from above.

The last people who boarded,
Claimed to be married and both had kids,
They still found nothing on my mighty ship,
Except what many forbid.

People stare with disgrace and disgust,
As strangers board my ship,
Maybe because they don't understand it,
Or it's something they'd much rather skip,

But I still have my mighty ship,
Which still refuses to sail,
But many more now board my ship,
And shows the good will always prevail.
