In today's world, more people on earth have access to cell phones than toilets! It is true. Out of the 7 billion people on earth only one billion, do not have access to mobile phones. Cell phones have been around for only 10 or 15 years. They have gone from huge brick sized headsets to a small, handheld touchscreen smartphones now easier to lose than ever before. This is without mentioning the flexibility. The new iPhone 6 is now bending into a store near you and no joke on the bending part. . The mobile phone has changed and with it changed our lifestyle. Mobile phones have come a long way and can be helpful and harmful in our community.

Mobile phones have been around for what seems like a long time but these devices are not that old. A team at Motorola led by martin cooper developed the first mobile phone. This device was called the Dyna-Tac. It weighed 2.5 pounds and was 11 inches long. This phone was the first of its kind and it was mostly made to appeal to the upper class being that it retailed for about four thousand dollars. Despite its early appearance, this brick of a phone was not become available to the public until 10 years after its highlighting. This set the stage for the smartphone era that we live in today.

The history of the mobile phone has progressed and advanced over time. Today, cell phones are commonly called smartphones. They aid people in completing tasks demanded by daily life styles. Phones are very portable now and are widely available to people all over the world. The average cell phone does not weigh more than 1/3 a pound. In fact, 1/3 pound is considered heavy for a cell phone today. Cell phones also have more capabilities than ever before. People can now use their phones to do many things like sending emails, texting, surfing the web, obtaining weather reports, and lastly calling. Surprisingly enough calling is usually the least used feature of a cell phone. Now people use text, email, and im more than calling. Despite being very helpful to today's society, cell phones, like most items, also have a bad side.

Cell phones are very helpful in today's world but like everything, the advantages are accompanied with disadvantages. Cell phones provide a way for people to store photos, information, contacts, and music. This information also makes them very vulnerable to hackers who seek to acquire this information. In addition, cell phones can be distracting to drivers and can cause accidents and major injuries. However, one of the scariest things about mobile phones is that they can cause cancer. The radiation from the radio waves can penetrate 1-3 inches into a person's head and can cause brain cancer.

In conclusion, Life today would not be the same without mobile phones. Most People take advantage of mobile phones. They do not know there history or how they are harmful to society. Mobile phones are important to society and bring many benefits but the harms they bring are many too. After all, how can people find out how to prevent the harms of a mobile phone if they do not know them?
