Looking back to the year 1980
Thank You Gran Ma Z
Our family resort home on Pages Lake is located in New Milford, Pennsylvania. The front windows of the rustic log cabin face a beautiful mile-long lake. Each season brings new and exciting ways to communicate with and enjoy nature and each other.

During the summer months my daughter and I swim in the refreshing crystal clear spring fed cool lake while my husband and son carefully row our 12’ aluminum boat amongst the white lily pads with a chance to hook dinner. In the evening, the children camp out under a cloudless star filled sky; as we barbecue the catch of the day.

When fall arrives, walking in the woods and enjoying the fresh foliage is a wonderful and fulfilling experience with Mother Nature. During our many nature hikes we collect various shaped rocks, and observe the squirrels as they store acorns for their long and lonely winter months.

Winter arrives with snow covering the ground like a soft baby blanket. Fun times begin with ice skating on the lake, snowmobiling on the winding trails, and skiing at Elk Mountain Ski Resort located just ten miles from our cabin. We enjoy this season immensely. Downhill skiing is our favorite family sport, and doing it together makes it even more enjoyable.

During these blistery winter months, the crackling wood in our fireplace in the cozy and comfy living room adds a homey and warm touch to the atmosphere. Everyone can cuddle-up like kittens and watch the flames dance in the open hearth. Since there is no television, we sit around the roaring fire and share our personal experiences of the day while we wrestle over Gran Ma Z’s multi-colored handmade patch quilt.

In April, when the snow finally melts, the world comes to life as the honeysuckle engulfs the air. Wild flower and trees blossom before our eyes and all is alive with radiant colors welcoming a new season. Spring has always been a special season for us, as it brings forth new life.

This cabin is a great place to get to know each other and be together. It gives us an opportunity to relax and enjoy a favorite book, hook a rug or play a competitive game of Scrabble. But most of all it gives us the opportunity to be a family.

When our stay at Pages Lake comes to an end, we are very sad. We will miss the sun going down over the lake, the deer feeding at the water’s edge, and the sound of the crickets love call, as one falls into a somber sleep. Upon returning to New Jersey, we can think of nothing else but relaxing in the front of an open fire as we become conscious of one another and the contributions nature has made to mankind.
