How life might be perceived whilst hanging by a thread
Unravel

We lie in the dark and unravel
Falling apart at the seams
Through stitches of time needles travel
And pin pricks puncture numbed dreams
With thimbles both blunted and battered
With the patches of quilt that remain
Schemes slotted, shunted and shattered
Weaving a tired refrain
Weaving a rutted worn pattern
With stuffing displayed ‘tween the threads
Frayed on the edges in tatters
Quilts flattened out on our beds
Yet the night, it allows time for darning
On sepia panels, reflect
A yarn spun through tapestries charming
Through textures and shades indirect
As the sunlight descends, edges feathered
And the moon, it ascends, takes the floor
I hope the materials weathered
When the time comes for curtains to draw
