Migration


Leaf fluttering down,
a bird against the sky
no a leaf
fluttering like a bird
down
to its nest of leaves below.

A season of details comes down to this,
where you parted yesterday.

Bird fluttering over,
a leaf against the sky
no a bird
fluttering
like your words to him then,
like you both in the end
on separate paths; both south.

Fluttering,
this star you follow springward;
fluttering
the first slow, scant snow,
that heralds your flight;

fluttering.
