A poem of sadness. This poem might need a trigger warning for those who suffer depression.
What would it be like
… What would it be like?

Would it be like
to close your eyes and know
that you are closing them for the last time?

What would it be like
to know that you will never again
have to face fear,
the future,
or feelings of loss, abandonment, regret, or sadness?

What would it be like
to know that when you awaken,
but you won't awaken,
that when you don't awaken,
you won't awaken to this?

What would it be like
to know
to embrace
to taste the kiss
of heroin's lips
and death's loving welcome?
