How do you protect the most vulnerable part of yourself?
Sounds echoed from the darkness.
I must stay on the path.
I cannot get lost in this eerie overgrown world.
Lacking a love to keep it tame this wilderness has grown out of control.
More sounds, rabid and hungry, sound close to the trail behind me.
Stalking me.
Lurking just out of sight.
I must continue.
The light has fled this world.
Darkness has overtaken it.
One wrong turn and I could be lost forever.
I must hide it.
My vulnerability makes me weak, but if I can hide it, I will be safe.
It will be safe, that beating organ cannot be broken again.
Here it will stay safe.
My eyes have yet to adjust to the thick haze.
The darkness has created a void here.
No light can exist.
The dark things continue to chase me.
Hunting me.
They can’t have it.
I must protect myself.
I can’t be hurt again.
There!
I’ve made it.
The walls of protection.
It is safe.
I am safe.
