another brief story. Let me know what you think :)
He walks into the bar. Staggering. Cigarette burns in his shorts and at the bottom of his shirt, revealing burn marks on his skin. People stare at him as he slumps over the bar top and orders drink after drink, in a hopeless attempt to try make himself feel better. The gin burns the back of his throat as he gulps down glass, after glass. He abandons his empty glass at the bar and stumbles into the toilet out back, where he piles the finely powdered drugs into his nose. He looks up at the leftover shards of a dirty mirror and sees the state of his face. He has only one thought…

I miss you

Meanwhile, she exits the bar quickly, as if to escape from his presence. The elegant blue dress she was wearing, torn in places and her heels, worth the equivalent of someone’s lifetime savings, on her feet had snapped. A limo awaits and the driver opens the door. She climbs into the back of a limo and as the driver pulls away to take her back to her paradise home, she catches a glimpse of herself in the rear view mirror. As all is not as it seems, just like the Garden of Eden, evil can still dwell in paradise. Looking in the mirror she removes her blacked out sunglasses, revealing a swollen and bruised eye. She gently touches her eye and a teardrop falls as she winces at the pain. She has only one thought…

I miss you

It’s crazy how we would much rather die and swallow our own pride, than look into their eyes and admit that we were wrong. Admit that we miss them.
We’d rather destroy ourselves than say that we’re sorry or accept our mistakes.
