Image of Perfection

We starve ourselves and hate ourselves
when no one is around.
Then we act as though we're selfless,
practical and sound.

Yet, we want to punch out windows,
we want to run and hide.
We want to ask someone for help,
but we just have too much pride.

Why couldn't we be pretty?
With one sentence left to say:
"It's all your fault we look like this,"
she said to me one day.

I stare at my dual reflection,
and don't see me anymore.
I hate the girl looking back at me,
but she hates me even more.
