A farmer is given a gift ...
The White Stork

Barn needed fixing today,
planks n nails , hammered away.
Chickens were laying ,
I spread out some corn.

Behind a wood plank,
I found a piggy bank.
shook it , heard a clank,
so I went to the river bank.

The river was rough,
It's sound was arbitrary.
Actually quite scary.
Until I heard a cough.

I looked around,
no one was found.
Was I spell bound,
what was that sound.

I opened piggy’s cork,
appeared a white stork.
More than amused,
I felt quite confused.

The noble stork spoke,
gee you’re a slowpoke.
I’ve been cooped up so long,
I thought you'd never come along.

Every day you would visit,
bringing corn to your chickens.
But never you noticed,
the loose plank of red oak.

They placed me in here,
till someone would peer.
And now, you’ve appeared.
So, are you prepared.

I’ve watched you, here,
year after year.
Here on this farm,
alone in this form.

Alone you have seeked,
since you had arrived.
And all you have found,
is nothing's quite sound.

I’ve brought you a gift,
a beautiful daughter.
So you may learn love,
as love is bestowed.

In exchange for this child,
you must share this benefaction.
Dispense love in your actions,
as you fathom life.

You have been chosen,
extend your good heart.
Learn from your gifts,
teach what you've learned.
