A slightly early New Years Eve poem
Season’s End (Part Two)

The Christmas lights are dimming
The year is winding down
With resolutions thinning
Forgotten on the ground
Another year is turning
For the better… for the worse
The memories are burning
From the last ones to the first
With memories of mince pies
And tinsel round the trees
Almost time for goodbyes
Approaching New Years Eve
On this seventh day of Christmas
With true love still not found
Some stars we want, might shine less
There’s plenty more around
And maybe next time mistletoe
Might take its rightful place
For now I’ll thank the folks I know
For their patience… for their grace
The ones who joined me for the ride
The ones who’ve had my back
The ones out on the wayside,
The ones slipped through the cracks
The ones who’ve been consistent
… the ones I haven’t seen
For the close and for the distant,
and all the in-betweens
For those known down to letters
For those I’ve yet to meet
For the ones I would know better
To make the year complete
Those who were there for me,
the ones I’ve left behind
I thank you all, for all you’ve done
For all your given time
But now that curtains drawing
We march upon time’s spear
With resolutions soaring
… I’ll see you all next year
