Depression has a grip on your soul... struggle to find the hope that will save you.
Depression stretches out its long fingers
Grasping you and holding on
With a steely grip
So tight it threatens
To suffocate the life out of you.
Its blackness lingers
Like the plague
Dragging you down
Into a never ending pit of despair.
Your thoughts eat at you,
Twist your mind
So that you are bound
To the negative visions
That strip you
And leave you bare.
But there is an intrinsic hope
That blooms and grows
Its branches stretch out to save you
In the flickering of its bounty
You catch glimpses.
In your blackened state
You flail, hoping to make contact;
Hoping to pull yourself out
Of the quick sand
That has engulfed you.
You struggle
Knowing this is the way;
The way back into your life
Where white hope and love
Brings the colours back;
Back into vibrant view
And blackness falls away
Running like roaches
For the sanctity of the shadows.
Unbound you float...
Wide eyed in the pureness
That has found you,
Saved you,
Enlivened you back to wholeness.
Love has found a way
Back into your soul.
