an evening writing about a lost loved one
Cool night air
drifts in my window
and mixes with a sigh,
to rustle the papers
on my desk.

Thoughts shift
like the wind.
Memories, like dead leaves,
float to join others
in a gentle drift.

Stillness settles again
and one leaf falls.
It lands
away from the others.

Like its solitude,
a lone reflection
descends on my mind
and lingers.

The heavy hush of darkness
hovers around me.
I feel your presence
in its weight.

The leaf stirs...

and I cry.
