The Alligator On The Golf Course
By: Brayden KB

A couple years ago, there was an alligator named Chase. Chase was not like the other alligators. He did well, what people did. Like he would walk like a human, eat like a human, and most of all… Golf! Golf was the one thing Chase was actually good at. And here’s how it all began…

One sunny day Chase was waiting for his mom to finish catching food from the lake. Chase said “ Mom am I a regular alligator?” “No, you are very special Chase.” “Thanks mommy!” said Chase. Chase’s mom finally caught the food then Chase ate, like a person of course. “Chase buddy, will you eat like an alligator?” said his mother. “Why?” Chase asked. “Because It’s the right way to eat.” Chase’s mom calmly said. So Chase did what he was told, even though he did not want to.

Five years later, Chase was all grown up. He stayed the same though; ate like a human and walked liked a human. But he has only watched golf never played, but he knew he was going to be good at it! One night, Chase snuck out of his swamp and went to the night bus to take him to the big city. The bus arrived and Chase hopped on. “To the big city!” exclaimed Chase. The bus driver was freaked out, so he just said “100 cents.” Chase roared at the bus driver! The bus driver accepted that as a warning and drove off to the big city. A half an hour later they arrived at the big city. Chase hopped off and headed to the motel, but thought it said Golf Course. Alligators couldn’t read, at least Chase couldn’t, so he roared and roared until he saw someone appear and say “nice costume!”. Chase roared in agreement. He walked inside and the automatic doors opened. Chase frightened people but they tried to ignore him but they couldn’t. They always thought “Costume? Or real?” The answer was real of course, but the people didn’t know that. The man asked, “What room would you like?” Chase roared saying “M and M’s!!!” but, in alligator language. The man was frightened, so he showed him a room, without M and M’s though. Chase was very disappointed. Chase headed to the store and saw candy. Of course they were M and M’s. He grabbed 7 big bags of M and M’s and ran out of the store and back to the motel. He went to his room and gobbled them up and then slept because it was 9:45pm. That’s when he usually goes to bed...

Meanwhile, his family grew so, so, so worried and thought he got eaten or even drowned! They began to think what happened to Chase. Then they thought they figured it out! He went to the big city! That was correct of course but they didn’t quite believe that, but headed there anyway...

Chase went out and looked around and saw the words Golf Course. “Yes!” Chase thought this is really it! He walked like a human and then got in line to wait. A couple minutes later he was up to pay, but he had no money so he said, “M and M’s?” and offered the leftovers of his m and m’s. The clerk said, “Definitely!” So Chase gave the clerk 35 m and m’s. Chase walked onto the green with his golf ball and club. He started out okay, and then on the last hole he got a hole in one! Then he came back to the clerk who was eating his m and m’s. He asked, “Hole in one?” “Yes!” said Chase. “Come back anytime for free my friend!” said the clerk. Chase was off to the motel when he noticed his family was looking for him by the golf course. Chase ran and hugged them and Chase told them about the adventure he had in the big city. They were surprised and hugged him. They all went to the store and got m and m’s. Then he always went back to the golf course and even taught them to play golf. Chase and his family lived happily ever after in the big city, sometimes in the swamp, but mostly in the big city…
