“He won’t come out.”

“Drop bread crumbs then when he goes by snatch him up,” said Ziggy.

Darrel did, catching the stubborn lizard. “Nice Griffy,” he cooed.

OK, hand me the oak oil, a quarter cup, I think…”

“You think? Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”

“Do you want to do it? I’m only an apprentice you know; I’m not supposed to be doing this stuff yet.” he re-checked the page, starting to sweat a bit, then added the oil.

The lizard was getting antsy. “You know,” said Darrel, holding Griffy tighter, “I’m fine with this, you could leave it…”

“Right.” Darrel held the lizard even tighter. “How long will it take?”

“Don’t you remember from before?”

“Not really, it was more like waking up. Until you came in, I thought I just ate something bad.”

Ziggy turned back thinking this might just work out after all. He poured the potion over everything that was already in the pot. After getting Darrell to sit, with Ziggy's body tightly clasped in his lap, he lit the concoction and began to recite words from the book over and over.

“Rozo, cozo, tarzo, gray,
Reverse the changes made today.”

Darrell snickered, then stopped when Ziggy glared at him.

Suddenly a puff of smoke engulfed Darrell and Griffy and when it dissipated, it looked as if nothing had happened.

However, Griffy shook as if he’d just woken up. “Why is this blasted lizard in my lap!” Griffgard shouted.

Ziggy quickly scooped Darrel out of the wizard’s lap. “My fault sir, I was just trying out a spell on him… it didn’t work out quite the way I’d thought…”
