When times are tough
I was his mentor; he was on drugs – eyes full of rage
I was his mentor; he punched me in the gut
I was his mentor, he harassed me

PAIN

He was the boy’s father; he was a criminal – eyes dull
He was the boy’s father, he threatened me with death
He was the boy’s father; he stalked me for a year

TERROR

I was on sick leave, scared shitless – eyes empty
I was on sick leave, never left the house
I was on sick leave, with a nervous breakdown

SILENCE

I had a hard time, without my job – eyes closed
I had a hard time, losing friends
I had a hard time, struggling on my own

INTERVAL

I overcame my fear, adjusting to the new –eyes clear
I overcame my fear, preparing my life
I overcame my fear, finding the spirit again

PEACE
