Inspired by heartbreak

Numb


I love you with all of my heart,
But I'll not shed a tear if our ways part.
My past has held too much heartache and pain;
I promised myself my numbness I'll sustain.
I have cried my tears,
I have faced my fears,
I will have doubt in all you say,
Preparing myself for when you go away.
I know this must seem idol and dumb,
But I prefer to stay thoroughly numb.
