The Scarlet Forest

At the end of my walk amongst the wood,
the sky turned into a deep scarlet haze.
A cloaked figure appeared, pulled back its hood,
I was frightened that its eye's were ablaze.

It was me that it looked upon to graze,
the creature placed its head upon the stump.
I was caught in the Jack o lanterns gaze.
I ran upstream, slipped, fell upon my rump.

The specter caught me before I could jump.
It chopped off my head, claws tore out my eyes.
T’was in pumpkins mouth my brain it would dump,
the phantom fed its smiling melons cries.

And then lit candles put inside my head.
Left as warning; this land is for the dead!
