New Years Poem
Searching for pithy quotes on the 'net
Not sure if I've realized the truth yet
2017 has come, 2016 is gone
And I look back and wonder what have I done?
Done with my time, with my money, or my life
Done to help others, to help end their strife
Done in my community, my county, my state
Then I realized January 1's just a date
Like Scrooge, the three Ghosts, their lesson he drew
He would keep Christmas in his heart the whole year thru
So I'll keep New Year's, it's promise, shiny and bright
I'll keep it's hope, it's freshness, it's light
I'll do what I can, try to spread New Year cheer
I all that I meet, all year, far and near.
