Short story of a man waking up
The overweight man yawned and sat up in bed, groggy as usual in the late morning hours. A bit of sunlight beamed through the upturned blinds on the window, and shone on the ceiling, creating a dim light throughout the small room. There was also a little bit of illumination coming from the desktop computer, creating a strange mix of lighting in the man's room, not really enough to make anything small out. All the man could see at this point in his groggy vision was fuzzy illuminated shapes. He moved his tongue around and smacked his lips to try to cure the incredibly dry mouth he was used to waking up with. After sitting for a moment, he flung the blanket off himself and swung his legs over the side of the bed, almost kicking his slippers across the floor as his big feet tried to find them. Once he got them on, he got up slowly and trudged to the door.
Making his way into the kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee, he didn't notice the miniscule bug sized man hiding behind the sugar bowl on the counter. The bug sized man cowered in fear as the giant man sleepily yawned and went about grabbing his favorite cup, filter, and coffee grounds. They were all put on the counter, not too far from the bug sized man, who began to try to figure out a way to escape. All he had wanted to do was get a little bit of crumbs to last him the day, but he mistook how long the man would sleep.
As the man filled the coffee pot above the bug sized man with water, he ran over to the can of coffee grinds and hid behind it. Trying to peek out to see what the man was doing, he saw the mans giant fingers enclose around the can and lift it high into the air above the bug sized man. Startled, the bug sized man tried to run and hide behind the coffee pot. Unfortunately for him, the man saw the moving blur.
"Gah...stupid bugs...guess I shouldn't have left the lid off my sugar bowl...", the man grumbled as he slammed his flattened hand next to the bug sized man. The bug sized man squeaked and tried to run, but the man slid his hand quick and pushed the bug sized man off the ledge of the counter.
The bug sized man luckily landed on the man's soft padded slipper before bouncing off and onto the cold floor with a thud. Rubbing his head and looking up, he saw the man had slipped one of his enormous feet out of the slipper, and had it poised high above the little bug sized man. The bug sized man instinctively screamed and held his arms over his head.
All the man heard as his foot slammed down onto him was a tiny bunch of crunches and snaps, and he felt the tiny thing crumple effortlesly under his weight. He twisted his foot from side to side quickly, feeling the 'bug' get crushed a bit more, and even felt a little wetness start to soil his dusty sole. He lifted his foot up to inspect his sole, and saw the little red spot from what was once the tiny bug sized man. The man grunted with approval and slid his foot back into the slipper.
As the morning went on, the man enjoyed his coffee, occasionally tapping his feet, thinking of what the rest of his day would hold. The red smudge on his sole slowly fading into the fabric of his slipper all the while...
