Fragile: Handle with care
Faberge Hearts

A vase expensive, on a shelf
They like the view up high
With careless hands caress their selves
While bad boy dealers lie
Get in line to make a buck
Her value, it is known
To dealers uncouth, her luck
To her, it is unknown
That somewhere 'neath the porcelain glaze
There beats a trophy heart
Auctioneers hold their gaze
and bidders play their part
As good ones post their losing bids
and quiet ones fall first
Loud ones keep their secrets hid
and oft turn out the worst
and when the vase is dropped, it breaks
The menders come on in
Stay silent for the content's sake
Stay silent for their sin
Meticulous, the cracks are joined
With seams forged fresh anew
and yet before a bond is coined
The vase is back on view
Reduced back to a numbered lot
Placed too high on the shelf
For menders poor to take a shot
No courage in themselves
Despite the need to bid, to call
To see the repair through
Breaking under gavel's fall
… we never see the glue
