For those times when you realize that with a certain person, you just can't win.
You've forgotten who I am because you're lost in your own insecurities.
All the fearsome demons you harbor will turn on you 'til you are a stranger in your own home
Lost and bumbling, drunk, alone and old- Betrayed by your own accusations.
Do you ever win that game of "get back" you've learned to play so well?
Practice has made perfect but you can't win something that never ends-
You've found no opponent in me, the set up is too easy to spot
And as night falls the shadows of history rise, you once told me
Trying to understand another is like staring into the dark
You've lost me in those shadows blinded yourself to my face
Overtaken in a crowd of your harshest projections
May you nestle into that warm cozy bundle of consolations and self-assurances
Rock yourself into a long sleep cradled in righteous justifications
