A short prayer before a simple meal turns an appetite
Now I sit me down to eat
Some lean ground beef and a boiled beet,
I ask the Lord to bless my food,
May it be hot, fresh, and good.

And let it nourish me, bringing health and well-being,
Not keep me up all night, running and peeing.
But if by chance my food should rot,
And the texture becomes a lot like snot,

Please warn me Lord, before I eat
My stinking burger and slimy beet.
Because if it's eaten, I'd become very ill
And need to take a Pepto-Bismol pill.

To stop my gut from turning loose
And spending the night, crapping like a goose.
On second thought, don't bless my food tonight,
It seems I've lost my appetite...
