At 15, Alyssa Bustamante killed a nine year-old girl. The reason is unclear.
Your eyes are painted black and your mouth is painted red.

You scratched your arms and legs and bit your nails until they bled.

The doctor gives you pills but still you wish that you were dead.

No one ever listens, do they, 'Lyssa.

They said your grandma's house would be a better place to stay.

Your mother drinks too much and now your daddy's gone away.

But you know that's not why you did the thing you did today.

No one ever listens, do they, 'Lyssa.

Did it happen like you planned, did it happen like you dreamed,

did it satisfy the hunger when you finally heard her scream.

She was only nine and you were only just fifteen.

No one ever listens, do they, 'Lyssa.

You told the sheriff everything down to the last detail.

You know the woods so well you threw the bloodhounds off your trail.

Men who've seen it all saw what you did and then turned pale.

But no one ever listens, do they, 'Lyssa.

Everyone asks why, on the news and in the press.

The experts give opinions but admit it’s just a guess.

How can you explain that she was something to possess.

No one ever listens, do they, 'Lyssa.

You painted your eyes black, you painted your mouth red.

You cut your arms and legs, you bit your nails until they bled

They said it's just a phase, but that little girl is dead.

They listen to you now, don't they, 'Lyssa.
