I am here, in this life, in this way, for a very specific reason.

Absurd
Words
Lines
Such whines
Poetic time
Brilliantly penned
Obtuseness’s
Indefensibly
Indefensible
Ill timed
Half assed
A swift kick
When I’m down
On the ground
Looking up
I see this world
Not for what I wish
But for what it is
Clarity is my gift
Uncertainty my curse
Always am I
Wanting to know more
My brain shudders
Because of much
My callous heart
Beats along
Living its own song
I have a voice
Allegorical
Are these lies
Just words
An obsession
Of mine
I write to live
And live to write
I spell it all out
Meaning
Context
Clue
And just a smidgen
Of various absolutes
God
So far above created me
I like to think I know
All his intentions
What a madman
He gave me meaning
Some purpose
Then refined it all
Put it in a blender
And held down puree
He took me up high
And dropped me down
He watched me fall
Under lip
He whispered
This is going to be good
Like a car crash
Like a train wreck
Someone’s about to suffer
He couldn’t look away
He wanted more
A real sadomasochist
What fun is creation
Without destruction
You give a boy
Sticks and stones
He’s gonna hit people
With one
And pelt them
With the other
I am his abomination
His pet experiment
Off the rails
In the ditch
Going sideways
Down a straight line
It’s gonna be good
For most but me
Tortured is this soul
Both saved
And thrown away
I must find my own way
Back to his good graces
Back to his kingdom
Of magical things
Where the dead live
Where all that we miss
Is easily found
If and when
No longer
Will there be pain
At least that’s what
The brochure says
To get back there
Back to that Eden
I must go through hell
I must stand at
The alter of humankind
And preach like this
I have a voice
Some hear me
Some understand me
Few send me praise
Much more offer me
Greater grotesqueries
They warn me
Of my tedious ways
They assure me that I
And not them
Will burn within
The fires of hell
They try to win my heart
By offering me a cure
But to what ails me
There is none
I am unredeemable
By anyone or anything
But myself
I must pass the test
Or brilliantly fail it
I have a voice
And God be dammed
I’m gonna use it
Whatever comes from that
I am more than prepared
To accept
I don’t need much to live
All that I really need
Is just a blank page
An idea
And the guts
To see it through
In time
I’ll be forgiven
Or I’ll be further forsaken
I’m not afraid
Nor will I ever be
I have a voice
And I’ll use it
What I say
What I mean
Are not a choice
I alone make…
