Everybody needs a little sunlight every now and then
Ultraviolet

Your sunlight bleeds right through me
It does it every time
Such pallid skin, it seeps in
Through caves of my design
Underground it finds me
Curled foetal in the dark
Wrapped up in the blackness
A blanket, shrouded stark
Parked in shadow's comfort
Safe from drama's call
But damn your lumination
Your spotlights make me fall
It makes the darkness crumble
My safety blanket fly
Waving in surrender
Flagging high and dry
With sea legs out of practice
Drawn up to the stage
Scripted improvisions
Tumble round the page
Unfit for the spotlight
On fringes, lines are tried
Truths are sorely tested
Shrouded in the lies
Cowered in the shadows
Praying to be seen
Hoping that the light shows
The places where I've been
The places that I go to
Where I want to be
The things I long to show you
The things that you should see
Hid beneath the surface
In crevices and crags
Hiding from your sunlight
Marked white with flying rags
