I haven't written poetry in many years. Recently, love and heartbreak became inspiration.
I didn’t know the moments would be so few.

I drew your name in the sand
And was blind to the tide coldly washing it away
One wave, one moment, at a time
Could I have built a dune, or a moat, to keep you longer?

How could I have thought that the waters would not reach this far?
I didn’t see the moon leave; I was busy watching the sun rise
And feeling its warmth on my skin like the love warming my soul.
How can I turn back the sun and the moon and get one moment more?

I want to dive into the sea that protects you
And write words from my heart onto yours with my fingertips
As the world moves on in endless waves above us
And stay until I have no more breath

Or for just one moment more.
