Frequencies

An angel on the airwaves
In the bandwidth on the line
When noises just won't behave
Weaving wrongly over time

Sending out mixed signals
Calling back the same
Rising up as hopes pull
Falling in this game

With toys hid in the attic
In the white noise left unseen,
and fear in the static
The frequencies between

Between what we encoded
and how it was received
Decoded... and reloaded
Understood, conceived

Connections forged in fire
Intermittent ice, entwined
Crossed channels and crossed wires
… with static on the line,

Susceptible in silence
Shrouded in the noise
Washed white in compliance,
Such doubt the line employs

Wishing we could transmit
The signal as it stands
With frames beyond our remit
In relays, filters strand

With signals narrow, quiet
Banded yellow as they go
Exchanges that supply it
Branded cabinets that show...

and tell us what our souls craves
What lessons line tests teach
My Angel of the airwaves
… forever out my reach
