A little rap-song written about a daughter with cystic fibrosis
Breathing Never Felt This Cold

Does it matter if it matters?
Honestly, 'cause I've been clawing at these blank walls,
Wishin' for someone to leave a prank call,
Really, you were all great, Y'all,
But it's time we finally ended.
Time we finally closed those books,
Time we finally crawled out of our nooks,
Because today,
Well, today is the last day,
The last day the clock is ticking,
The last day to be choking on the air that we breathe.
Breathe,
In and out, just like your mother told you.
And when you can't, I wish I could help you,
But this battle is tougher together.
The rhyme's don't come as smoothly,
I can't concentrate,
You're hacking and coughing,
I'm wishing,
Wishing you'd be alright,
It's only a small fit,
Only a small one,
One that won't hurt as much,
But my heart aches to know the last one will come someday.
I want you to be okay,
But I know that means you can't stay,
Here, with me,
With your mama,
Don't worry about her crying,
Those are good tears,
The tears that celebrate the good years,
The good years with smiles from ear to ear,
So, goodnight, sweet dreams
There'll be bacon for you in the morning,
Don't worry, baby, you'll wake up,
Tonight just isn't your night.
Tonight just isn't your night.
