a frozen memory
The cold was imminent
Our fingers began to creep
All the way back into their sleeves
Searching for warmth

The sound of chattering teeth
And mumbling mouths challenged the silence
And became ice-breakers for conversation

The snow glistened in the sun's diving rays
And the fallen branches had found a new purpose
They became our tools of expression
As we carved our thoughts in the snow
We became victims
Willing victims
To our own creative imaginations

Even exhaling was a delight
Our naturally shy breath became comfortable
And revealed its form in the crisp air

This day may have passed
But I will not forget it
For it is a frozen memory
That my heart will cherish and my mind will reminisce
