A reflection on beggars
You see us in the streets:
We ask for food;
We implore for shelter;
We beg for money;
We hope to see another day.

You see us in the homes:
We cry for love;
We petition for help;
We plead for friendship;
We feign to have joy.

You see us in the nations:
We behest for peace;
We long for recompense;
We await fair judgment;
We expect mercy.

Are we not all beggars?
