A tale of a fragile city.
The City of Sand.

On a certain beach, on a certain day, a certain city was built of sand.

A simple city with a simple castle. Some simple houses. A simple moat.

It had tiny people, with tiny clothes and tiny money and raised tiny animals.

They lived happy lives, had happy children that played happy games with happy smiles.

They did honest work, spoke honest words and made honest mistakes throughout their days.

They had bitter arguments that led to bitter fights that led to bitter wars, which led to bitter deaths.

They faced difficult problems, faced difficult foes, made difficult choices and faced difficult times.

They cried tears of reunion, cried tears of parting, cried tears of gloom and cried tears of joy.

They laughed in spite of grief, laughed in spite of pain, laughed because of life, laughed because they could.

On a certain beach, on a certain day, the sun set on a city built of sand.

The tide rose up. The waves rolled in. The city walls could not endure.

And then the city was gone.

...But it definitely existed.

On a certain beach, on a certain day, there was once a certain city built of sand.

Its people lived. They cried, laughed, made mistakes and had regrets. But they certainly lived.

And it was beautiful.
