The old bench is ready to tell what it has seen.
What the bench saw is a long tale
It lasted through many a gale
John and Beth kissing in the field,
Little boys with foam swords did wield,
All its life, the bench watched its surroundings in awe
Now it is ready to tell you what the bench saw

In day and night, the bench did see
Dogs and cats each chasing a bee
Until, at last, the bee did sting
Causing the pets great suffering
Seven squirrels in trees and four birds taking flight
This old bench will tell what it saw in day and night

It's winter here where the bench sits
Alone now, just you it admits
To hear its story, though it's long
And of its adventure and song
None here beside him but you, he speaks without fear
He chats through snow, no one close 'cause it's winter here
