written in early 2016, a short fiction story using a metaphor to describe mental illness
Fields of flowers surround her completely.
There is a smile on her face as contagious as can be.
She can feel the crisp air blowing on her skin.
She is infinite.

But she wakes up and she is lying on a basement floor, dirty and bruised.
She is somewhat confused.

Her gaze moving from the unfinished ceiling to the blood on her knees and knuckles.
Tears flood her eyes.
Her hand reaches out to the door, knowing the demons and secrets it hold.
The screaming begins once again.

Now curled up in the dirty corner, she rocks back and forth with hands covering her ears.
Eyes are squeezed shut, she tries to block out the evil coming for her.
It will attack her mind, then her body.

Tears running down her cheeks faster now, her arms cover her ears as her hands rip out clumps of head from her now red scalp.
This is not who she was.

The voices grow louder as she rips out more hair, and begins to scream, awaiting her fate.
