Dead Roses

A haunted silence,
like dead rose petals,
descends
onto the path leading
down to the beach.

Something moves,
a pale mist
floating on the air.

Is it
the castoff remains
of unrequited love?

Solidifying,
into an apparition
in white lace,
she hovers above the path,
where sorrows rain.
