The difficulties when parents become elderly. Unresolved issues.
We sit in opposing chairs
Her grey hair, her lost eyes
My hair long, my mind sharp
We sit so far apart

We look at one another
She watches all my moves
I notice her so still
We look but we don't see

We talk to each other
She listens but forgets
I remember things she's said
We talk but not together

We know the same thing
What happened before
What he did to me
We know but say nothing

We speak of him at times
Of their life together
I try to forget
We speak, yet we don't

We sit across a chasm
Because of what she knew
I try to forgive
We still sit in opposing chairs
