Sometimes we don't know what we lost until we find it again!

Forceful Refinding

Being forced to write--
to guide the way for others
let me feel, not forced,
but free: to indulge, to take the time.
Time used to ooze, but no more.
More and more it blurs by--
not in seconds, but in entire weeks
at a gulp.

Being forced to write--
been a gift to me. Time
I do not have found nonetheless
and in the finding,
I have found joy.
Joy in realizing how I missed
writing for the sheer exuberance of it,
that giddy euphoria
when a poem takes its head,
goes racing off in an unexpected direction.

Being forced to write--
an exercise in reshuffling to-do piles,
trade-offs and decisions.
Decisions on what is more important.
Olympics filled and deleted unwatched from
recorded space that overflowed
as I opted to -- no. Wanted to spend more time
writing. Three hours in a morning shifted my days
to earlier risings. Bedtime yawned earlier.

Being forced to write--
shifted to excited to.
And more, for I surprised myself.
Delved and drudged and yes,
indulged: digging into recesses buried
beneath time and already busied days.
Unearthing sentiments and old horrors:
gave them air. I glued on paper wings
inked in dismissal and let them fly elsewhere.

Being forced to write
became being allowed to play.
Playing let mind meander elsewhere:
new ideas had room to grow, watered
by liquid desire, fueled by fingers grasping, grabbing
at focus required. I write for my living:
once again, finally again,
I am living to write!
