A mysterious lady who had a perfect face.
Once I was strolling on the streets during the summer dusk when I saw a pretty girl beside a lamp post. She was like any other girl, tall and fair, with large twinkling eyes, pink flushed lips and a curving smile. But the maiden had something different, something very striking which might have compelled every creature to look at her,if anyone would have seen her.I gazed at her, trying to scrutinize her face. She was perfect!Clearly speaking, her expressions were just exemplary. At night I tried to ponder over my thoughts. How could a human possess such a flawless countenance? Was she God-gifted or was it a magic spell that was cast upon her?Or were my eyes deceiving me?I finally decided to keep aside these puzzling questions and dozed off to sleep.Next morning was a bad day.It was raining cats and dogs.I waited for a taxi to arrive but the streets seemed deserted. After ten minutes,I saw a car approaching.I waved my hand to the driver. The car stopped right in front of me and I got into it,without paying heed to the driver's words. When I was comfortably seated,I looked up and was spellbound to find the 'Perfect girl' driving me.Was it a coincidence or just a chance to know her better? She gave me a broad, appealing smile and I smiled back, though it was a bit dry and distorted. At the very moment,I got a call from my boss informing me that a holiday was declared for us.I was elated but at the same time quite disheartened for I could have got up late in the morning.I apologised to the girl for bothering her but she just made a funny gesture and started the car.I looked into the rear view mirror when I saw her face losing its sheen. The colour was fading away. The smile was beginning to warp. The maiden became conscious about her looks and ran out of the car, into a small shop, somewhere situated in the dark, dingy streets.I stealthily followed her but I couldn't find her.Did she disappear into the thin air or was she running away from me?I hardly knew her but my eyes were searching for the maiden because I wanted to know her better. While I walked past the shops,I peeped and rolled my head in every possible direction but there was no sign of her.The very moment,a wailing sound came from nowhere. It was the maiden! But I wondered why was she crying.Did anyone say something mean to her?I walked up to her, taking baby steps and to my horror, she turned out to be an ugly lady! She had a crooked nose and chapped, discoloured lips. She was standing in the centre of a 'mask' shop, searching for some to grab and she quickly stuck one on her face. All these years, the lady had been hiding her true self behind the masks. The maiden had hideous looks which she couldn't bear at all. Thus, she depended on the coverings to bring out the virtual perfection. The Almighty has given every child his unique looks. The face might seem attractive at the first sight but when the true colours come out,the beauty is all the more.Mother Nature looks more charming than the landscape paintings. So,accept the reality because masks make you uglier, shedding away all your God-gifted features.
