in a Cornish Sonnet
As I was strolling down the avenue,
I came upon a golden daffodil.
He said, "Somebody's watching over you.
When last we met, you said it was the end,
and I was worried you had lost your will.
I'm glad to see you back again, my friend!"

The wonder of it all became quite clear,
and I responded, "I had lost all hope
back then when demons gripped me by the ear,
until your sunny attitude inspired
a better frame of mind for me to cope
with stronger sense of self I have acquired."

As I was strolling down the avenue,
the wonder of it all became quite clear.

Author's note: The Cornish Sonnet is a hybrid form blended through the interaction between Arab traders and the inhabitants of Cornwall, as described and demonstrated in the following link: http://thepoetsgarret.com/2016Challenge/form01.html
