We convince ourselves that tomorrow will be kinder
We convince ourselves that tomorrow will be kinder,
But we all cry when we realise
That all we must do in our lives is die.
We run through the gauntlet of life, looking behind,
And let the ocean wrap its arms around us.
Tell me, how many times have you been broken?

Sometimes we must break to become.
How can we ever be louder than bombs
When all we do is whimper?
Scared that when we cry
The ones we love will flinch.
The dirtiest fight has always been against ourselves;
Do not wish upon a shooting star this year
Wish upon the sun,
And bring the mountains to their knees.
