A love and friendship poem

Standing On The Jetty

She was standing on the jetty.
The sun was coming up.
I was swinging to Tom Petty
in my rusty pickup truck.

The sun was shining through her dress
what a lovely silhouette,
and time was standing still that day.
You know I can't forget.

I thought my life would never change
but man was I so wrong!
There wasn't any way to tell
that love could be so strong.

So many years have come and gone,
the memories are dear.
That sunny day I first saw her
made everything so clear.

There's something to be said for love
and where it's path will end.
For all these years I've called her wife,
she's always been my friend.
