Three years I wore this patch and for a year gave troop information classes on it.
SEVENTH ARMY

The Seventh U. S. Army patch,
Nicknamed the seven steps to hell.
I wore it proudly on my shoulder,
And know the story well.

Red is for the blood they shed.
Blue stands for water crossed.
Yellow, the crown of glory,
For their courage and the cost.

The tears still fall as raindrops,
And the puddles ever swell.
Lost dreams ride on sunbeams,
Where the soldier fought and fell.

Green mountains turn to purple,
As they reach to meet the sky.
The soldier bought peace and freedom,
Paid a price was Heaven high.
