On and below the cross...
Amen

Tears of sorrow are blowing away
the light into her old and tired eyes,
fingers on a rosary and lips that pray
some words, now in agony he cries

in pain, drawn on his distorted face
signed by shades on his hollow cheeks
the blessing of the cross, his final place
in the living world, with his eyes he seeks

longing for the last and final breath
his heart objects against the spasm of life
resigned to his fate, he sees his death

in favor or against, bittersweet now and then
on his tongue there's still a word, a strife
to say it to the world and his mother: 'Amen'.
